We start our excursion by driving through the village of Hellesylt where the waterfalls cascades directly into the fjord. Afterwards we continue on through idyllic places, wild landscape of fjords, rivers and mountains before we will reach Europe’s deepest lake: the Hornindalsvanet (514 m).
We continue along the famous and magnificent Nordfjord, which we follow all the way to Stryn. Here we will take a break and enjoy a little free time. Our tour goes along the river Stryn, which is famous for salmon fishing, and we pass the lake with the same name before reaching Hjelle. Close to the lake there is the Jostedal Glacier National Park visitor centre: we will take a break and take some photos to immortalise the stunning landscape.
From there, we travel through the picturesque Hjelle valley with its many colourful farms. As the road goes up into the mountains, you will notice how the landscape rapidly changes from a green and fertile countryside to a rugged mountain landscape with impressive peaks. Shortly before reaching a high mountain plateau, we will make a photo stop at the famous waterfall of Øvstefossen. From the platform we will be able to take great pictures of this majestic wonder of nature.
Then, we head up to about 1.500 m above sea level, to the Dalsnibba Mountain. At Dalsnibba on a clear, sunny day it is possible to enjoy a unforgettable scenery of glaciers, snow-capped mountains, lakes and far off the bottom of the Geirangerfjord.
Our last stop on our way down to the small village of Geiranger will stop at Flydaljevet (Flydals Gorge), a historic point of interest since 1936. Here, we can admire the Geirangerfjord from above… and take photos of your ship!
Our tour ends at the Geirangerfjord which is described as the most beautiful fjord in the world and this is no exaggeration. The Fjord is surrounded by imposing, steep mountain and countless waterfalls and has earned the protection of UNESCO.
