Åndalsnes, Norway

Åndalsnes is a young village with about 3000 inhabitants, including the surrounding areas. It is the administrative center of Rauma municipality in Møre and Romsdal.

The village lies at the mouth of the river Rauma, well known for its salmon, close by the Romsdalsfjord. The village is surrounded by mountains up to 1800 m, with Trolltindene, Vengetindene and Romsdalshorn beeing the most prominent. Furthermore, Åndalsnes is the gateway to the Romsdal Alps with the famous Trollstigen and the mountain peaks of the King, the Bishop and the Queen.

Åndalsnes is an important communications node with a lot of industry and trade - and a service center for the inner parts of Romsdal valley.

It has a lot of tourist traffic with the cruise guests and europe’s most scenic railway, the Raumabanen also known for the sixth part of Harry Potter that was partly filmed here. The Norwegian Mountain Festival is held every year in July, and Rauma Rock offers a lot of concerts in August.
